Experience: Christel did her community service year at Zithulele Hospital in the rural Eastern Cape in 2020. She stayed on at the hospital for another year and a half, where she loved establishing the foundation of her clinical knowledge and skills and learning how to adapt in the clinical setting while working in a resource restraint environment. She then moved back to Cape Town where she grew up and joined the practice.
Joined Cathy Carstens Physiotherapy Practice: 2022
Special Interests: She loves advocating for the profession and partnering with clients on their journey to achieve their goals with a combination of manual therapy and rehabilitation. She particularly enjoys working with acute or chronic orthopaedic patients by figuring out the root of the symptoms, addressing it and equipping them with the tools to eventually prevent pain or symptoms from becoming recurrent. She also adores working with paediatric chest patients and it always puts a smile on her face when patients improve with the help of physiotherapy.
Other Interests: She likes challenging herself to be a continual learner to stay up to date with the most recent evidence-based practice and is also busy currently pursuing her Masters in Physiotherapy at the University of Stellenbosch to be completed by the end of 2022. In her free time Christel enjoys doing Pilates, running, and cooking or baking.
